Karachi triumph
KARACHI, June 10: Karachi won the inaugural Pizza Hut inter-district tennis tournament when they defeated Hyderabad 2-1 at the Hyderabad Gymkhana Sunday.
Karachi took the lead in the best-of-three finals when Khalid Ali beat Rafi Derbari 6-3, 6-3 before Derbari teamed up with Shabbir Gul to overpower Jalil Khan and Khalid Ali Nazar 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles to level the match.
In the decider, Jalil Khan led Shabbir Gul 6-3, 4-2 before the local boy retired.
STA has announced the hosting of National Hardcourt Championships in Hyderabad. The STA also said it would host training camps in Hyderabad and Thatta districts.
In Hyderabad, camps will be set up at Zubeida College and Public School while at Thatta, the camp will be staged at Boys Secondary School.
