Meter removed despite dues’ payment

GUJRAT, June 4: Wapda employees removed the electricity meter of a doctor despite the fact that he had paid the bills.

Dr Rana Nasir Elahi said on Tuesday that some Wapda employees severed the connection installed at his clinic without informing him.

He claimed that he had paid the bill on May 23 while the last date was June 3.

He demanded of the higher authorities to immediately restore his connection and order a probe into the matter.

CASE REGISTERED: Civil Lines police on Tuesday registered a case under MPO 16 against the prayer leader of Farooqia mosque in Chah Kholay.

Sahibzada Ziaur Rahman Nasir reportedly used objectionable language in his Juma sermon against President Gen Musharraf.

He is still at large.

ACCIDENT: Constable Zafarullah died in an accident here on Tuesday.

ROBBED: Three robbers deprived a rickshaw driver, Naveed, of his wrist watch and Rs2,000 in cash in Noorpur Sharqi on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Civil Lines police claimed to have arrested the bandits, identified as Akram, Ilyas and Sagheer.
