KARACHI: Illegal buildings to be demolished

KARACHI, June 2: The Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has decided to demolish all those buildings that had not submitted the building plans till May 31.

According to a KBCA press release issued here on Sunday, this was decided at a high-level meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Controller Dr Zafar Ahmed.

He directed all the controllers of buildings to expedite the demolition campaign as this was the last chance for builders who had constructed buildings in violation of approved building plans.

He also directed all the controllers to demolish at least three buildings in a week in their respective circles.

For the purpose of demolition, he asked them to hire private labour.

The chief controller also asked the controllers to stop construction on such buildings.

He also directed the controllers and section heads to take stern action against “ghost officers” and those employees who remain absent from work.

He directed all the building inspectors and assistant controllers to register complete report about illegal construction in their respective areas in the Filed Books.

Violation of these instructions would be dealt with strictly, he added.

The meeting was also attended by Controllers of Buildings Akhtar Iqbal Usmani and Ali Zafar Qadri.—APP
