PO killed in ‘encounter’

SHEIKHUPURA, June 1: A proclaimed offender was killed in an alleged encounter with Muridke City police here early Saturday morning.

Three suspected men riding on a motorcycle were going to the Kashif Amanullah Road when a police party led by the SHO signalled them to stop. But the motorcycle riders opened fire on them which was returned. Consequently, one of assailants died instantly while his two accomplices managed to escape. The dead man was later identified as PO Wahid alias Waheedi.

Police sources told reporters that the deceased PO had been wanted by the district police in several cases of heinous nature.
