WASHINGTON, June 1: The minister and deputy chief of mission at Pakistan’s embassy in Washington, Zameer Akram, has been nominated as ambassador to Nepal.
Mr Akram has previously served in Pakistani missions in Moscow, Geneva and New Delhi and had an earlier posting in Washington between 1994 and 1998. He returned to the embassy in Washington in February 2000.
The Nepal assignment will be Mr Akram’s first ambassadorial appointment, and he is expected to leave here by the end of July.
Also leaving Washington in July will be political counsellor Masud Khan, who goes to Islamabad on promotion.
