Four get death on 11 counts

VEHARI, May 31: A local court on Friday handed down death sentence on 11 counts with a fine of Rs100,000 each to four convicts for murdering 11 members of a family.

The judge also awarded life imprisonment on 11 counts and fined Rs50,000 to their fifth accomplice, Muhammad Afzal.

They will undergo six-month more jail term in case they fail to make the payment of fine.

According to the prosecution, Gul Muhammad, Abdul Aziz, Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Mushtaq and Muhammad Afzal had butchered 11 members of a family, including four women and three children, at Chak 16/WB, Vehari, on April 10, 2001.
