GUJRANWALA, May 29: Rivals shot dead five members of a family, including a woman, and injured four others over a minor issue in neighbouring Jandiala Baghwala village here on Wednesday.
Landlord Muhammad Rafiq had tried to dispose of earth of his field to a party. But his rival landlord Niamatullah offered less rate to the same party which was closed with. Rafiq objected to the buyer when he began transporting earth by tractor-trolleys through his fields. The landlords fell out when the buyer apprised Niamat of the issue, but the villagers reconciled the matter.
On Wednesday, Niamat and his men sprayed a volley of bullets on their rivals, killing instantly Muhammad Ibrahim (60), brother of Rafiq, Ghulam Nabi (40), Shafiq (19), Muhammad Sadiq (40) and Sakina Bibi (40) and injuring Muhammad Yaqoob, Sadeeqa Bibi, Naziran Bibi and Muhammad Tayyab (12). They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital where the condition of women were stated to be serious. The bodies were shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
INJURED: Around a dozen bus passengers sitting on its roof sustained burn injuries on Wednesday when they snared in electricity wires near Qila Soba Singh, Wahando.
The bus was on its way to Kamoke from Wahando when the incident happened. A police constable and students were the victims. They were taken to the DHQ Hospital, Kamoke, from where constable Muhammad Nawaz, Sharafat Ali, Shafqat, Muhammad Ahsan and Tanvir were shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, for their critical condition.
STABBED: A man was stabbed to death by his rivals over a petty issue at Bakhatewala here on Wednesday.
Police said Nadeem Butt was present in his house when the accused called him out and attacked him with knives and escaped. He died on the spot. The deceased was the only brother of seven sisters and the father of a baby.
