KARACHI: KPP projects reviewed

KARACHI, May 29: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has said the ongoing development works under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme (phase-III) should be completed in time and according to standard.

He was presiding over a meeting to review the KPP projects, law and order situation and devolution of power to the grassroots level.

The governor asked the officials to visit the project sites personally and ensure the quality of work.

He called for taking the communities into confidence in execution of the schemes.

He pointed out that results of the transfer of power to grassroots level would be achieved only when development works were carried out in all areas impartially. The elected representatives will have to take care of every person and area, he added.

Mr Soomro stressed the need for continuity of measures taken for maintenance of law and order and said that no negligence should be permitted in this regard.

He called for maintaining round-the-clock vigil on anti- social elements and added that this should be adopted as a continued exercise.

He stressed the need for seeking cooperation of notables and community from lower to upper level.

The Inspector-general of Police, Syed Kamal Shah, and Home Secretary Mukhtar Ahmed briefed the meeting about law and order situation. Secretary Local Bodies Fakhar Zaman said the Sindh Local Government Ordinance was being implemented in a comprehensive manner.

Chief Secretary Javed Ashraf Hussain, Principle Secretary Akhter Zamin and other officials were also present.—PPI/APP
