KARACHI, May 25: Thirty five vehicles — 15 cars and 20 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city in the past 48 hours.
Twelve vehicles — six cars and an equal number of motorcycles — were hijacked / stolen on Saturday, police sources said.
Two cars were hijacked and four others stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar, and other areas.
One motorcycle was hijacked. Five others were stolen.
On Friday, 23 vehicles — nine cars and 14 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city. Four cars were hijacked. Five others were stolen. Four motorcycles were hijacked. Ten others were stolen.
Police also claimed on Friday to have recovered 13 vehicles in the city.
ACCIDENT: A three-and-a-half-year old boy was run over by a passenger coach in Lines Area on Saturday evening.
Police said as the main road was closed to vehicular traffic due to Eid Milad-un- Nabi procession, traffic was diverted to alternative routes.
A Mehran Coach (PE-4624) was passing through the narrow streets of Lines Area when it hit Waleed.
He died on the spot. The child was a resident of the locality.
BODY EXHUMED: A woman, in custody, led police to recovery of the body of her husband, whom she had allegedly killed a week ago.
Rifat Batool confessed to have killed her husband on May 19 as he had caught her with her lover.
Police said Tasadduq Husain reported to police about the disappearance of his cousin Sattar Shah, aged 42, a security guard in a private company. Police began a search and on suspicion they picked up Rifat, wife of Sattar, for interrogation. Rifat, mother of five, confessed that she had extra-marital relations with Karam Husain Shah.
On May 19, Sattar saw them together in his home, and he lost his temper.
Karam overpowered him and Rifat strangled him with a scarf, she told police.
She, with the help of Karam, buried Sattar, Rifat told police, who recovered the body from the spotted place.
