KARACHI, May 23: The second phase of the HSC annual examinations for humanities (regular and private) and commerce (private) groups would commence on June 7, it was learnt officially on Thursday.
Sources in the Board of Intermediate Education (BIEK) said that dates sheets for the three examinations had been finalised and would be available at colleges along with admit cards of regular candidates by May 30. The admit cards and date sheets of humanities (private and regular) would be dispatched to candidates on their given address, added the source.
In all 54016 candidates, including 38250 females, have been registered for the second phase of the examinations planned to be conducted at 86 examinations in two sittings daily. 42 centres would function in the morning shift (10 am to 1 pm), and 44 centres in the evening shift(3 pm to 6 pm).
There would be only one examination on Fridays in the morning shift. The humanities (regular) examinations would be held in the morning shift, while the humanities (private) and commerce (private) would be held in the evening shift.
The sources said that the board would deliver admit cards against all forms it had received from the colleges, but principals would be in a position to withhold any of the admit cards on the ground of short of attendance.
The second phase of the examination would continue upto July 7. A faculty wise breakdown of candidates registered for the examinations is as follows:
Humanities (regular); part 1, 1284 males and 11533 females, part II, 1477 males and 13060 females. Humanities (private); part I, 2469 males and 5414 females, Part II, 1477 males and 13060 females.
Commerce (private); part I, 3306 males and 922 females, part II, 3587 males and 896 females.
It was further learnt that one centre would be set up in the Central Jail, while another centre would be set up for about 90 physically handicapped students.
Through a notification, the controller of examination, BIE, Prof Amjad Ali Syed, has asked the principals of colleges and higher secondary schools to arrange for collection of admit cards and date sheets for the candidates of their colleges, including ex- students and improvement of division, through authorised representatives from Room No 22 of the board on or after May 27 during office hours.
POSTONED: The Board of Intermediate Education has informed that the HSC examinations of Science and Commerce (regular) scheduled for May 25 have been postponed in view of the Eid-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. They will now be held on May 30 at the centres mentioned in the date sheets. The timings also will be the same as mentioned in the date sheets.
