KARACHI: Transporters reject ban on heavy vehicles

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 23: The Supreme Council of All Pakistan Transporters has rejected the ban imposed on the movement of heavy traffic in the city.

A statement issued by the Council stated that the ban was rejected during a meeting of the constituent member of the Council on Thursday.

During the meeting, transporters demanded that before imposing a ban on the movement of heavy traffic during daytime, the government should ensure protection to the transports on main thoroughfares and highways at night.

Similarly, the NLC which has the largest fleet of heavy vehicles should also be made subject to the ban, the statement said.

Moreover, Karachi Port and oil companies should ensure 24-hour supply, loading and unloading facility to transporters, it added.
