SIALKOT, May 20: Movement of heavy troops from both sides was seen along the 220km Sialkot working boundary on Monday, as the “war clouds” thickened due to prolonged Indian aggression.
Police continued shifting people to safer places from border villages of Sialkot and Narowal districts.
The two districts were jolted by heavy artillery fire several times in the day and the
night before as people warily listened to the thundering sound of rockets and mortar shells being fired.
People coming from the border towns said most of the villages along the Sialkot working boundary were being deprived of electricity due to the Indian shelling, forcing people to bear such sizzling heat while staying indoors.
Official sources confirmed there was almost no student attendance in schools of border areas because of the mounting tension. There was a possibility that summer vacations might be announced before the scheduled time.
The district governments of Sialkot and Narowal have directed all the departments concerned to complete emergency arrangements and stay on high alert to meet any aggression by India.
