HYDERABAD: Conditions of schools discussed

HYDERABAD, May 20: The ten-member education committee, appointed by the Hyderabad Taluka Council, at a meeting here discussed the dilapidated conditions of school buildings and the deteriorating standard of education.

The meeting resolved that the committee would meet Hyederabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman in presence of the EDO (education) to discuss the issues.

It also decided that the committee would remain in touch with the EDO and perform its due role in resolving the problems confronting the schools.

Speaking on the occasion, Naib Nazim Abdul Qadeer Naghar, who presided over the meeting, said that a meeting of chairmen of the education committee of various union councils of the city would be convened at which the requirements of furniture, repairs of school buildings and other educational matters would be discussed.

HUNGER STRIKE: Journalists of Hyderabad, under the banner of the Sindh Journalists Organization (SJO), staged a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Monday to protest against the armed attack on the residence of Ranipur journalist Nanak Ram resulting in serious injuries to his father and brother.

Speaking on the occasion, SJO leader Lala Rehman Samoon, demanded that the accused should be arrested.
