PESHAWAR, May 17: The residents of Hazarkhwani and its surrounding villages, linked to the 11kv Peshawar city grid station, are facing various problems due to loadshedding and frequent power breakdowns.

The power consumers said that although Pesco had deputed a number of officials to check electricity theft in the area, but the inspectors had made it a routine to raid commercial consumers and harass them on different pretexts.

They complained of having received inflated power bills despite the fact that the electricity in the area remained disconnected for most of the time.

The consumers said that whenever the residents contacted the Pesco officials to register their complaint about loadshedding and low voltage, the officials came up with the reply that the company had been facing huge losses on account of power pilferage in Hazarkhwani area.

The residents denied the Pesco charge and said their area had the Sui gas facility and they had nothing to do with power stealing.
