KARACHI: Teachers body seeks changes in curriculum

KARACHI, May 17: The newly-formed commerce teachers’ body has demanded modification in the existing courses of study for intermediate commerce group students in colleges.

Elections for the Commerce Lecturers and Professors’ Association were held recently at a general body meeting of commerce teachers. Prof Aslam Khan and Prof Abdur Rahim were elected chairman and general secretary, respectively.

The general body resolved that the ICom subjects be prepared in line with the market needs. The teachers also demanded reduction in subjects allocated for BCom, the syllabus pertaining to Cost Accounting, Advance Accounting and Banking and Finance subjects be elaborated and standardized further and problem of shortage of commerce teachers in Karachi colleges be also addressed, said a press release of the association.

Other elected teachers are: Prof Muhammad Asghar Khan (Vice Chairman), Prof Jamaluddin and Prof Zulfiqar Ali Khan (joint secretaries), Prof Sanaullah (Finance secretary) and Prof Zeenat Mahmood (Social Secretary).
