GUJRANWALA, May 16: The district and sessions judge on Thursday got arrested an assistant sub-inspector and suspended from service an SHO for keeping a man in illegal confinement.

One Ramzan filed a habeas corpus writ petition in the district and sessions court that his son, Nasir, had been in illegal confinement of the People’s Colony police for the last eight days. The court deputed a bailiff to recover the detenu. The bailiff raided the People’s Colony police station and recovered him.

The judge got arrested ASI Nawazish Ali and issued a show-cause notice to another ASI, Muhammad Sharif, for keeping him in illegal confinement. The court also suspended from service People’s Colony SHO inspector Shahzad Akhtar Shaikh and sent him to the police line.
