MIAN CHANNU, May 16: Two proclaimed offenders on Thursday were killed while as many managed to escape after an encounter with police at Chak 119/15-L, Agowana.

Khanewal DPO Chaudhry Ghulam Rasool told newsmen that on a tip-off that POs were present at Tahir Nawaz’s outhouse, the city police and the Elite Force conducted a raid there. Getting wind of the police movement, the criminals started firing and tried to escape. As the police went after them, they again opened fire on police which was returned. As a result, Shabbir Ahmed alias Shabeeri and Allah Yar Hiraj died instantly while Sheer Ahmed alias Sheeri and Mulazim Hussain made good their escape.

The DPO said they were wanted by Tulamba, Kassowal, Kamalia, Harooti, Toba Tek Singh and Peer Mahal police in several cases of heinous crimes.

Police also recovered one automatic rifle and two magazines, a pistol, a carbine and a motorcycle without number plate.—APP
