LAHORE, May 12: The blazing sun and hot winds further increased the temperature almost all over the country on Sunday, making it the hottest day of the current summer.
Padidan, a Balochistan town, experienced a record maximum 51.5 degrees C temperature. This was followed by 51 degrees in Nawabshah, 49.6 degrees C in Sibbi and 49 degrees C in Rohri.
It was the hottest day in Lahore with a maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees. The hot wind that continued to blow throughout the day made people to remain indoors.
The Lahore Canal was perhaps the only place which could provide some respite to those who did not have airconditioners at home. Streets wore a deserted look and people visited city parks and other recreational spots only in the evening.
According to the Met office, there were no chances of any relief in near future.
The maximum temperature in Bahawalnagar was 48.6 degrees, Bahawalpur 47, Khanpur 47.2, Multan 46.2, Faisalabad 45.5, Jhelum 45.8, Risalpur 40.3, Islamabad 42.7, Sargodha 44.7, Sialkot 46.3 and Peshawar 42.55 degrees C.
