BAHAWALPUR, May 12: A government primary school for boys has not been upgraded ever since its establishment in 1903.

This was disclosed by a union council Nazim Shaikh Muhammad Ayub while speaking to the participants on the third day of district council’s meeting on Saturday.

He said the school had about 500 students on its rolls. The residents in Mauza Karani had donated land for the school, he said, adding the government should upgrade it to middle.

Speaking to the participants, district Nazim Tariq Cheema said several development projects worth Rs150 million would be completed in the district on war footing. Scores of villages would be electrified at a cost of Rs70 million, he added.

Haseeb Mahmood surrendered himself before the Saddar police with the chopped off head of Rana Zahid Hamid alias Zaidi Khan. Later, he was handed over to the Cantonment police.

Talking to newsmen at the Cantonment police station, Haseeb said that he attacked Zahid with a dagger when he entered his residence, killing him on the spot. Haseeb then went to a restaurant and took tea. He returned to Zahid’s house, chopped off his neck and surrendered himself before the police.
