TOBA TEK SINGH, May 12: Police after an encounter arrested three alleged members of an inter-district robbers gang on Saturday night from Chak 250-GB, some 45 kilometres from here.

Rajana police was informed by the area people that five robbers were looting passengers near the village. A police party reached there but the bandits took shelter in a nearby orchard after getting wind of their arrival. Police besieged the orchard, but the robbers started firing on police which was returned.

Heavy police contingents were called out to arrest the culprits. No one from any side sustained injuries during more than a three-hour shootout. Later, police overpowered three outlaws while two others managed to escape. Those arrested were identified as Muhammad Bilal of Mandi Dhabban Singh (Sheikhupura), Muhammad Shoaib of Madina Town (Faisalabad) and Habibur Rehman of Chak 233-GB (Jaranwala).

SHOT AT, HURT: Unidentified dacoits shot at and injured a village watchman and looted the house of a farmer at Chak 306-JB (Botala) near Gojra.

Armed dacoits sneaked into the house of Muhammad Shafi and started collecting cash and ornaments. The dacoits shot at and wounded seriously watchman Mazhar Iqbal when he raised an alarm. Later, the dacoits fled with the booty.

STOLEN: Two electricity transformers were stolen on Saturday night from two different places in the district.

Gojra Saddar police have registered cases against unknown thieves on the report of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company SDO. Transformers were stolen from Chaks 426-JB and 430-JB.
