ISLAMABAD, May 6: The President increased on Monday the salary of the non-existent prime minister from Rs22,000 to Rs56,000 per month, Rs1,000 less than the salary of the president.

Amending Prime Minister’s Salary, Allowances and Privileges Act, 1975, the new ordinance provides that in section 3 of the act the word “twenty-two” the word “fifty-six” shall be substituted.

On Feb 27, President Pervez Musharraf had increased the salary of the president from Rs23,000 to Rs57,000. The president had also amended the President’s Pension Act providing that he would be entitled to 85 per cent pension of the salary. Earlier, the retired president was entitled to Rs10,000 as pension.
