GUJRANWALA, May 6: The Naib Nazim and all other members boycotted on Monday the monthly meeting of Union Council 49/13 to protest against the Nazim.

Alleging that the Nazim was misusing union council funds, they demanded an institution of an inquiry against him.

Led by union council No 49/13 Naib Nazim Abdul Rauf Sadal, the councillors told newsmen on Monday that Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem Cheema was getting sewerage plan laid in his fields and ignoring areas which urgently require the facility.

They said that they had sent a memorandum to the Punjab governor, District Nazim, district coordinating officer (DCO), managing director of Wasa and tehsil Nazim, demanding an impartial inquiry against the Nazim.

Sixteen members of the union council, including the Naib Nazim, have signed the memorandum.

MURDER CASE: The anti-terrorism court No 1, Gujranwala, recorded on Monday the statements of an investigating officer and other witnesses in the murder case of former judicial magistrate Fida Hussain Shah.

The court ordered provision of guard to the son and other family members of slain magistrate when they pleaded that they were being harassed by the heirs of the accused.
