HYDERABAD, May 4: A group of employees of union council, Tando Haider, staged a protest demonstration outside the local press club on Saturday against the non-payment of their three months salaries.
Talking to newsmen, Sher Ali Shah, Mohammad Qasim and others said that the authorities had promised them, before the visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to Hyderabad, that they would be paid their salaries after the visit of the President.
They complained that now the authorities had forgotten their promise and added that the EDO (finance) was not even ready to meet the employees while the Zila Nazim was only paying lip service.
They said that the Nazim of Tando Haider, Miran Shah, did not care about the welfare of the employees whose families were starving.
They appealed to the President and Sindh Governor to restore justice and warned that if their salaries were not paid, they would not hesitate to commit suicide.
