MANSEHRA, April 23: The District Nazim of Mansehra, Mohammad Azam Khan Swati ,has warned the Ulema to stop their anti-referendum campaign.

Speaking at a special meeting of the Nazims and Naib Nazims of all the three tehsil councils and the union councils of the district held in connection with the preparations for the April 30 referendum, he said, Gen Pervez Musharraf was the symbol of solidarity, and any opposition to the April 30 referendum will not be tolerated.

Malik Mushtaq Khathana, Naib Nazim, of the union council Mansehra city No.3 had said in the meeting that the Ulema in their sermons were making provocative statements against the government of Gen Pervez Musharraf and the April 30 referendum.

Mohammad Azam Khan Swati, referring to the point raised by Mushtaq Khathana, said in future such remarks by the Ulema must be brought to his notice so that stern action could be taken against them.

The Nazim of union council Shinkiari Maulana Qazi Wasi-ur- Rehman said there was no truth in Mushtaq Khathana’s statement.
