FAISALABAD, March 18: Scores of lawyers on Monday took to streets to press their demand of setting up a bench of High Court in Faisalabad.
Carrying placards, the protesters marched within the boundary walls of the local district courts.
District Bar Association (DBA) President Muhammad Rafiq Batalvi, Secretary-General Masood Sarwar and other leaders claimed the government had paid no heed to their demands despite hue and cry.
They said lawyers would stage sit-in at the Clock Tower Intersection on March 25.
The local trade organizations had assured lawyers of maximum cooperation and would join struggle, they said.
DEPUTED: The district police have deputed commandos in the churches to guard against any misadventure, SSP Tassaduq Husain claimed on Monday.
Talking to heads of various Christian organizations, he assured them arrangements had been made for their security during special service timings.
The SSP asked them to apprise police of any loopholes in the arrangements and inform them before hand about special gatherings.
Meanwhile, the organizations have condemned the attack on church and termed it a conspiracy against Pakistan.
ARRESTED: A local police team on Monday claimed to have arrested a thief with cloth worth Rs4 million.
Police said some thieves took away cloth worth Rs4 million from a godown in Jhang Bazaar three months ago.
Investigating on modern lines, they said they arrested Muhammad Rafiq from Chak 225-RB and recovered the cloth.
