PESHAWAR, March 16: Peshawar Electricity Supply Company has disconnected supply to 74 Afghan refugee camps aimed at lessening the load in Landi Kotal tehsil of the Khyber Agency.

A Pesco spokesman said that the action had been taken with the help of political authorities to overcome the load problem in Landi Kotal and Shalman of the Federally Administered Tibal Areas.

He denied involvement of any Wapda officials in demanding illegal gratification from villages in exchange for reducing loadshedding.

He said the load management would continue till pressure on the transmission became normal and added that would happen only if tribal people used the facility prudently and paid their bills in accordance with their consumption instead of the present flat rate.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: A customer service centre has started working in Swat to resolve problems pertaining to bills, etc., says a Pesco press release. Customers may also call the customer services centre by dialling 118 to seek information, it said.
