MANSEHRA, March 1: The Federal Investigation Agency arrested an official of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited on corruption charges on Thursday, official sources said.

The FIA had registered a corruption case against the PTCL sub-divisional officer, Jan Sher, for allegedly receiving huge sums in commission from the local people for extending telephone service to different areas of the Balakot tehsil during his posting here. Later, the SDO was transferred from Balakot to Besham, Kohistan.

Acting on public complaints, the FIA raided the PTCL Balakot office and took its record in custody a few weeks ago and registered a case against the SDO.

After the cancellation of his bail before arrest by the sessions court, the SDO was arrested.
