Shah snatches gold in Iran


ISLAMABAD, Feb 20: Muhammad Shah won Pakistan gold medal in 60 metres hurdles race in the 14th Fajr International Indoor Athletics Championship being held in the Iranian city of Rasht, Pakistan Amateur Athletics Federation said Wednesday.

Shah timed 8.09 seconds to win the race in his event. Besides him, Pakistani athletes also grabbed a silver and two branze medals in the championship competed by 14 countries.

Zeenat Perveen clinched gold medal in the women’s shot putt with a throw of 12.61 metres.

Abdur Rashid got a bronze medal in the 60 metres hurdles won by his compatriot Shah, clocking 8.16 seconds while Waseem Khan also landed a bronze medal in the long jump with a leap of 7.25 metres.—APP
