Pearl case: govt official to brief press daily


ISLAMABAD, Feb 15: The Ministry of Interior has advised the Sindh government to nominate a senior officer, preferably Home Secretary or Inspector-General of Police, to daily brief the press regarding progress made in the investigation of the Daniel Pearl case.

According to an Interior Ministry spokesman, the step has been taken to address the existing media concern about the whereabouts and welfare of the missing American journalist and to discourage unsubstantiated and speculative reports which may harm the investigation process.—APP
