MIRPURKHAS, Feb 14: The caretaker director of Nara canal area water board, Zafar Leghari, has advised the growers to use the available water first for drinking and then for irrigating their crops, because supply at the Nara head decreased to 4,270 cusecs as against its requirement of 13,500 cusecs.
Talking to newsmen at his office here on Thursday, he said that about 1,500 cusecs water in Nara was lost due to evaporation and lift machines, therefore, remaining 2,700 cusecs water was reaching the Jamrao head, which was insufficient to fulfil the need of the command area.
He further said that 2,700 cusecs water was being shared by Jamrao, Mithrao and Thar canals, 45 per cent went to Jamrao division, while 55 per cent to Mithrao and Thar divisions.
ARRESTED: The Samaro police arrested a proclaimed offender, Basheer Rind, on Wednesday.
He was involved in heinous crimes and had been declared a proclaimed offender.
