FAISALABAD, Feb 12: Seven people were killed while over a dozen sustained injuries in a head-on collision between two wagons on the Samundri-Rajana Road, some 45km from here, on Tuesday.
The wagon (LXP-1946) was on its way to Toba Tek Singh from Samundri when it collided with the wagon coming from opposite near Kota stop. Seven of the passengers died on the spot while several others injured. The injured were admitted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where two were in precarious condition.
Two of the seven dead were identified as Muhammad Sadiq and Muhammad Iqbal. The bodies of the other five were sent to the Allied Hospital mortuary.
PROTEST: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has announced it would launch a country-wide protest from Feb 14 for the release of Qazi Husain Ahmad and other leaders.
Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, JI district Ameer Sardar Zafar Husain, city Ameer Mahboobuz Zaman Butt and office-bearers said camps would be set up, rallies be taken out against the government’s ill-conceived policies. Handbills and pamphlets carrying demand of release of the leaders would be distributed among people, they said, adding the protest would continue till their release.
They said the camp would be set up at the Clock Tower intersection in Faisalabad.
