PESHAWAR, Feb 12: The director-general of Khana-i-Farhang Iran, M.H. Raeesossadat, has called upon the Ummah to understand the US designs in the Middle East and Asia, and get rid of its destructive influence.

He was speaking at a dinner hosted in honour of politicians and notables at the end of 10-day celebrations to mark the 23rd anniversary of Islamic revolution on Monday.

Ever since 1979, the Iranian official said, the United States had been opposed to the revolution.

“Our valiant people have foiled every move against the spirit of the revolution,” he maintained.

Recalling history, he said the former Iranian king was a United States agent in the region who served the interests of his masters. In 1953, he added, the Iranian people had brought a national government to power, but the US got it sabotaged by the pro-Shah generals.
