Narrow win for Law Company

LAHORE, Feb 11: First Law Company beat Borjan 6-5 while Nee Punhal defeated Rangers 8—3 1/2 on opening day of the February Cup polo Monday.

Borjan enjoyed two goals advantage on handicap and Ahmad Ali Tiwana converted a 40 yards penalty-hit to give it a 3-0 lead in first chukker.

Raja Amir converted a spot penalty while Adnan Lone scored a field goal for first Law at end of second chukker, Borjan led 3-2.

Tiwana scored a field goal and so did Agha Murtaza Ali for Borjan during third chukker. Lone scored another field goal and First Law still trailed 3-5.

First Law monopolised scoring during third chukker. Husain Iftikhar converted a 30 yards penalty-hit. Amir scored back-to-back field goals to give First Law the hard-earned win.

Rangers had an advantage of 1-1/2 goals on handicap and scored two goals during play. Lt.-Col. Talat Zia and Major Jalil were the scorers.

On the other hand, Nee Punhal quartet struck at regular intervals to win the match comfortably. Maula Bakhsh scored four, Umer Sadik three and Feroz Gulzar one goal.
