3 of a family killed on road

SAHIWAL, Feb 10: Three members of a family were killed while two injured when a car overturned near Chak 41/GD, Sahiwal-Faisalabad Road on Sunday.

The family was on its way back home in Bahawalnagar after attending a marriage in Faisalabad when the car (BRB-3902) overturned after hitting a roadside tree in an attempt to save a donkey cart.

Muhammad Afzal, his cousin Farhana and aunt Mumtaz died on the spot while Kiran and Iram received injuries. The two were admitted to the Okara Divisional Headquarters Hospital where the condition of Iram was stated to be critical.

LOOTED: Dacoits on Saturday night looted Rs76,000 in cash from a former member of the local district council and drove away with a car and a motorbike.

Two dacoits reportedly entered Rana Muhammad Ali Joya’s house in guise of intelligence inspectors, held up the inmates and collected Rs76,000 in cash. They drove away with the car (SLH-4198) and the motorbike (SLJ-4920).

Police have registered a case.

In Chichawatni, three bandits deprived cigarette company’s salesman Asghar Gulzar of Rs32,530 in cash.

Police are investigating.
