KARACHI, Feb 10: A blaze in a poultry farm in Korangi killed 8,000 chickens on Sunday.

A spokesman for the fire brigade said that the fire started in a plastic factory in Korangi’s sector 50-A on Ghous Pak Road, and soon it engulfed a nearby poultry farm where around 8,000 chickens died in the fire.

The spokesman estimated the damages to be around Rs1.5 million.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A three-year-old boy died in a road accident in Mehmoodabad on Sunday.

The police said that Zarrar, with his mother, had gone to visit their relatives in Mahmoodabad.

In Mehmoodabad No 3, the boy ran on to the main road and was crushed to death beneath the wheels of a speeding truck (QAH-8394).

The boy died on the spot. His body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for post-mortem, the police said.

The police claimed to have arrested the driver of the truck, identified as Safdar, and impounded the truck.
