LAHORE, Feb 9: Five goals by Ahmad Ali Tiwana, including a hat trick, enabled Borjan with a one-and-a-half goal handicap to beat First Law Company 8 1/2—8 and win the Samsung Junior Polo Cup at the Lahore Polo Club Saturday.
A similar five goals feat including a hat trick by Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana for First Law failed to save them from defeat.
In the subsidiary final, Nee Punhal defeated Guard Rice 5-3 1/2 .
Asad Hayat Tiwana drew first blood for First Law Company. Ahmad Ali Tiwana scored back-to-back field goals giving Borjan a 3 1/20 lead at end of first chukker.
Munawwar Baig and Agha Murtaza Ali scored for Borjan in the second chukker with Nawaz Tiwana scoring on a 60 yards penalty-hit for First law. At conclusion of second chukker, Borjan led 5 1/2 -2.
Ahmad Nawaz again scored two goals and Raja Amir a field goal for First law narrowing the lead 5 1/2- 5 at end of third chukker.
Nawaz Tiwana’s hat trick came in the fourth chukker with his fifth and First Law Company’s seventh goal from a spot penalty conversion. Amir scored his second goal and First Law’s final also in the fourth, however, Ali Tiwana scored his hat trick in the fourth chukker which brought the narrow victory to Borjan.
In the subsidiary final, Guard Rice had advantage of half a goal on handicap. Taimur Malik (2) and Irfan Ali (1) scored for Guard Rice whereas Maula Bakhsh (3) Usman Haye (1) and Feroz Gulzar (1) were the scorers for Nee Punhal.
