LARKANA, Feb 9: The Frontier Constabulary (FC) will be deployed on the Sindh-Balochistan border to check criminal activities.

Speaking at a news conference here on Saturday, the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Sukkur range, Syed Nayyar Hasnain Haider, said that the federal government positively responding to their request had agreed in principal to provide 20 platoons of the FC for the purpose by the end of February.

He said that the inter-provincial meeting on law and order was going to be held in Lahore on Feb 16, where the IGPs from the four provinces, home secretaries and officials of the interior ministry would sit together to discuss ways to improve law and order situation in the country.

After this meeting, the AIGP, Sukkur range, was optimistic that 20 platoons of the FC would be placed at his disposal.

He said that now after holding negotiations with Balochistan government, Sindh police could raid and arrest dacoits from Balochistan provided they carried definite information about the criminals.

Mr Haider, who earlier had a meeting with the district Nazim and police personnel of Larkana, told newsmen that already 74 permanent police pickets had been established alongside the River Indus in the district.

Responding to a question, he said now throughout Sukkur range cases of Karo-kari would be registered by SHOs on behalf of state and the murder under this pretext would be dealt with under section 302, following the strategy already adopted by Larkana police.

No Jirga would be allowed to take place in Sukkur range, he said adding that this practice would never be encouraged.

Terming the law and order situation in Sukkur range satisfactory, he said that police was investigating into the murder of Sudham Chand Chawla and added that an accused had been arrested in this regard.

The DIG, operation, Syed Mushtaque Shah, the District Police Officer, Larkana, Ghulam Nabi Memon, and the SP, investigation, Abdul Ahad Sangri were present in the news conference.

AIGP, Sukkur range, later held a meeting with the taluka nazims at circuit house.
