Superb hat trick by Munawar

LAHORE, Feb 5: Four goals by Munawar Beg, including a hat trick, helped Borjan to beat Nee Punhal 8 1/2-4 in the Samsung Junior Cup polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club Tuesday.

Munawar completed his hat trick in the first chukker while his fourth came in the second chukker. Other scorers for Borjan, who had a 1 1/2 goal advantage, Ahmad Ali Tiwani (2) and Agha Murtuza were the other scorers.

Matloob, Maula Buksh scored two each for Nee Punhal.

In the other match of the day, three goals each by Shah Qubilai Alam and Hassan Raza Gillani and two by Aurangzeb Monoo guided Musa Industries to a facile 8-3 win over Pak Rangers started with a two-goal handicapped and got the solitary goal through Talat Zia.

In a tough match final match of the day, First Law earned a 4- 3 1/2 victory over Guard Rice. For the winners, Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana scored three goals while Amir Khan added one goal.

The losers, having a handicap of half a goal, reduced the margin through Shehzad Aziz, Shaukat Malik and Irfan Ali Hyder.

Meanwhile, a four-member Lahore Polo Club team left for Dubai to play a match against Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club on Feb 7. The team inclueded Ishaq Khan Khakwani, President Lahore Polo Club, Malik Asif Yar Tiwana, Malik Atif Yar Tiwana and Arsalan Najeeb.
