Two ‘POs’ killed in encounter

SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 4: Two alleged proclaimed offenders were killed in an encounter with police near Bhago Dyail, Narang Mandi, on Monday.

On a tip off that four proclaimed offenders were present at a Dera in Bhago Dyail, Lahore CIA and Narang police jointly conducted a raid. The outlaws opened fire on the raiding party which was retaliated. Two outlaws, including Imran Hyder, 26, of Dra Kambowan, died on the spot, while two others escaped taking an advantage of darkness.

The uncle of Imran, Mahram Ali, told reporters that his nephew was neither involved in any crime, nor any case was registered against him. He was arrested by the Lahore CIA police near the Qila Gujjar Singh police station some two days ago and was kept in the Civil Lines police station for interrogation in the murder case of Muridke SHO Kasha Amanullah. He alleged that he died of police torture.

LOOTED: Pir Muhammad was deprived of Rs1.6 million in cash by eight dacoits near Kharianwala here late on Sunday night.

In another incident, four armed men took away cash and dowry from the house of one Shahbaz in the same locality.

Bhekhi police are investigating.
