HYDERABAD, Jan 31: The first National Seerat Conference organized by the Sindh University, Jamshoro, was held at its campus on Thursday.

The two-day conference was inaugurated by Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro.

In his inaugural address, the governor said that it was high time that we strived to follow strictly in the path of the greatest of all messengers (SAW), who created history, who bestowed mercy and blessings on humanity, laid emphasis on the rights of fellow human beings, and who for the first time in the history of the world set a practical example of a truly welfare state.

He said, we must follow and understand Islam in its true spirit, the Deen of Peace, and added that it was our duty as believers to practise and disseminate the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

He said the conference was aimed at paying homage and tribute to the most exalted of human beings whom Allah in His infinite mercy called Rehmatul-lil-Aalameen, a title bestowed on Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) alone by the Creator of all creations.

He said the personality of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) stands out as a benefactor for all humanity which served as a beacon and no amount of praise ever seems to be sufficient to describe it.

He said Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) guided mankind under all conditions and situations, be it poverty, riches, youth, old age, subjugation or authority.

He said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) erased all distinctions of caste, colour, creed, ethnicity, fiefdom and slavery amongst his followers.

The governor said that it was the preaching of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that Hazrat Umer Farooq (RA) called Hazrat Bilal (RA) my lord and Hazrat Suleman (RA) earned the honour of being called “Suleman, the son of Islam”.

He said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was the greatest personage ever born, endowed with intellect, wisdom, understanding, tolerance and political insight and acumen unparalleled in human history.

Federal Minister for religious affairs, Dr. Mehmood A. Ghazi, the vice chancellor, Sindh University, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, the Dean of Faculty of Islamic Studies, Ms Mumtaz Bhutto, Zila Nazim Dadu, Malik Asad Sikandar, the vice chancellors of Mehran, Agriculture, Liaquat, Isra universities, and a large number of scholars are attending the conference.
