WASHINGTON, Jan 28: The US operation against terrorism in Afghanistan must go “to the absolute end”, interim Afghan leader Hamid Karzai said on Monday after meeting President George W. Bush.
“This joint struggle against terrorism should go to the absolute end of it,” Karzai said.
“We must break them out of their caves and their hideouts, we promise to do that,” in said in an apparent reference to Al Qaeda fighters and remnants of his country’s former Taliban rulers.
Earlier, the Afghan leader urged members of the Afghan-American community here on Sunday to help in his nation’s reconstruction efforts.
“You are the ones who are trained, you’re the ones who are academics,” said Karzai, addressing about 4,500 flag-waving people. “Come back to your country and we will welcome you,” he added.—AFP
