Zeeshan and Arif score four times

LAHORE, Jan 22: A late match winners by outside-left Irfan Mahmood helped Chakwal beat a spirited Leyyah 1-0 as nine more matches were decided on the fourth day of the Punjab (Under-16) inter-district hockey championship at the National Hockey Stadium Tuesday.

Irfan found the net three minutes from time after both the teams failed to break the deadlock in the first 35 minutes of play.

Leyyah wasted four penalty-corners while Chakwal misfired two.

Mandi Bahauddin and Sahiwal played a one-all draw game. Sahiwal took the lead through left-half Nasrullah in the 49th minute which was equalized by Imran Ali in the 57th minute.

Bahawalnagar earned a narrow 2-1 win against Bhakhar. After a barron first half, Inside-right Junaid and outside-left Imran scored in quick time to give the winners a 2-0 lead.

Bhakhar got the consolation goal in the final minute of the match through centre-forward Waseem Abbas.

Two goals by Mohammad Zubair helped Okara beat Gujrat 3-0 after enjoying a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Zubair struck in the 11th and 23rd minutes whereas centre-forward Tahir Mahmood scored a field goal in the 5th minute.

Four goals by inside-left Zeeshan Akram guided Toba Tek Singh to blitz Hafizabad 9-0. The winners led 2-0 at lemon time.

Zeeshan Akram sounded the board in the 29th, 33rd, 37th and 49th minute. Centre-forward Inayatullah slammed goals in the 20th and 37th minute while Outside-left Usman banged home in the 47th and 53rd minute. Inside-right Shahid Nadeem completed the tally in the 57th minute.

Rana Usman netted three goals to help Sargodha thrash Jhang 7-0. Sargodha led 2-0 at the half time.

Usman scored goals in the 13th, 22nd and the 44th minute. Centre-forward Adeel Akram got two in the 36th and 59th minutes. Outside-left Naseer Ahmed found the cage in the 39th and the 53rd minute.

Four goals by inside-left Mohammad Arif Yasir helped Faisalabad trounced Rajanpur 8-0 after developing 2-0 lead at the half way stage.

Right-half Nauman of Rajanpur was badly injured when he fell down on the ground and struck with his own hockey-stick in the early stage of the match. He is suspected to have suffered an epilepsy attack. He has been shifted to Services Hospital.

Arif Yasir, who had scored a hat trick on Monday, scored goals in the 6th, 34th, 39th and the 59th minutes.

Mohammad Naseer (12th), left-half Qaiser Dildar (49th), Mohammad Ashar Ahmed (53rd) and centre-forward Mohammad Qasim Ikram (57th) added one goal each.

Vehari walloped Rahim Yar Khan 7-0 with goals from outside-right Ramzan (13th, 37th), full-back Mohammad Shoaib (8th), inside-right Muqadas (18th), centre-forward Shahid (41st), outside-left Mansab (45th) and Abuzar (54th).

Sialkot registered a crushing 8-0 defeat over Multan.

Centre-forward A.Saeed and right-half Shahid scored three goals each. Saeed scored in the 29th, 30th, 39th minutes while Shahid banged home in the 40th, 46th and 55th minutes. Outside-right Saqib (35th) and full-back Salman (42nd) chipped in with one goal each.
