LARKANA, Jan 20: The drought emergency recovery assistance programme will be launched in the drought affected area of Larkana district with the help of Asian Development Bank and World Bank.

For this purpose, a district coordination committee was formed at a meeting held here on Saturday, which was presided over by the DCO, Larkana, Mohammed Hashim Leghari.

The DCO would be the head of the committee. The EDOs, finance, works, and a representative of an NGO would be its members while the district officer, planning, would act as its secretary.

It was learnt that the district government had almost completed the blueprint of the plan to be implemented in the famine-hit areas of Larkana district with the allocation of Rs300 million.

The line departments would further update and consolidate the project portfolio. A survey would soon be initiated in Shahdadkot, Warah, and Kambar talukas of the district, the sources said.

The EDO, finance, has been appointed as the district coordinator for preparation, implementation and monitoring under the programme. He would also assist in progress report and statements of expenditure as required by World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

For technical advice, the EDO, works, has been appointed as the manager of the programme. He would also supervise projects preparations.
