KARACHI: Two men held with heroin

KARACHI, Jan 20: The Pakistan Customs’ Drug Enforcement Cell arrested on Sunday an African drug trafficker and recovered 200 grams of heroin from his baggage.

A spokesman for the Cell said the passenger, identified as Boubacar Diallo, had came to the Jinnah Terminal to board a plane of Thai Airways, flight TG- 508, for Bangkok.

Upon conducting thorough search of the passenger’s baggage, the customs staff recovered 200 grams of fine quality of heroin powder that was concealed in 30 hollow bolts welded on three metallic discs.

The spokesman said following the recovery and seizure of heroin, the accused passenger was arrested for violation of the Control of Narcotics Substances Act of 1997. The suspect was referred to the Investigation & Prosecution Branch of the Customs House for further probe, the spokesman added.

On Saturday, the Drug Enforcement Cell staff intercepted a Pakistani passenger, Anser-ul-Islam, aged 32, and recovered 1,400 grams of heroin from his possession.
