KARACHI, Jan 17: A police official and a passerby died in a petty dispute in Peerabad on Thursday.

The police said that a dispute erupted over a petty matter between Zainul Abideen, aged 24, and Abdul Basar, aged 30.

The police said that Abdul Basar alleged that Zain and his two brothers had beaten him badly, and he lodged an FIR at Pirabad police station against three brothers, Zainul Abideen, Shaukat Ali, and Anwar Ali.

The fourth brother of the theirs, Hafiz Nisar Ali, aged 40, a wireless operator in the communications department of the police, learnt about the FIR against his brothers on the police control. The police said that when Nisar reached Peerabad to settle the dispute with the other party, his brothers had left for the hospital.

A duty officer at Peerabad police station said that friends of Abdul Basar attacked Nisar with a knife seriously wounding him, and during the scuffle Nisar opened fire killing a passerby, Rahimullah, aged 40.

Both the wounded men were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

SHOT DEAD: Unidentified assailants shot a chowkidar to death in Surjani Town on Thursday.

The police said that Khaliq Ahmed Khan, aged 40, was on duty outside a poultry farm near the terminus of minibus of route W-18, when two unidentified assailants shot him to death. The assailants escaped after killing Khaliq, the police said.

Khaliq was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.

CARJACKING: Thirteen vehicles — six cars and seven motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Thursday, the police said.

Three cars were hijacked: one each in districts East, South, and Central. Three others were stolen: two in district East and one in district West.

Three motorcycles were hijacked: one each in districts Central, South, and East. Four others were stolen: two in district East and one each in districts Central and West.

ROBBERIES: Unidentified men barged into the house of Allah Maher in Surjani Town and looted cash, gold jewellery and other valuables.

Armed men raided the house of Khawaja Faisal and looted cash and valuables.

Bandits barged into the house of Tanweer Ahmed in Mehmoodabad and got away with cash and gold jewellery.
