KARACHI, Jan 15: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has stressed the need for effective representation of farmers on the Board of Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA).

In a meeting held at the Governor’s House, a number of steps were discussed for reorganization of SIDA and to make it more functional and effective.

The governor called for result-oriented measures and to work with the participation of all the stakeholders.

He said despite water shortage, the crops were cultivated according to targets because of a better water management.

On the occasion, it was decided to bring further improvement so that possible affects of water shortage could be averted.

The governor directed the irrigation and agriculture departments for maintaining a liaison with farmers at all levels and to provide them necessary information.—APP
