Committee to assess Afghan needs formed

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 12: A high-level coordination committee, constituted as per president’s directives, will assess Afghanistan’s reconstruction needs and chalk out Pakistan’s role in it.

According to an official statement the committee will remove all unnecessary restrictions on exports and tap the opportunities in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan as the post-war Afghanistan scenario provides greater scope for Pakistani exports.

Unfortunately, exporters to Afghanistan, via land, are facing obstacles being created by various agencies.

The government has told the provinces that there are no restrictions on exports to and through Afghanistan, to Central Asian Republics, via land route, in Pakistani rupees, excluding those manufactured in manufacturing bonds.

The exports are allowed through Chaman and Torkham; more points will be added.

Although, many items are freely exportable to Afghanistan there are some whose export is prohibited.

There is no requirement for form “E” procedures relating to banks and receipt of payment in foreign exchange.
