Two killed in water row

SUKKUR, Jan 11: Two persons including a 15-year old boy were shot dead in an armed clash between two groups of Mahar clan in village Nawab Mahar, district Ghotki, on Thursday evening.

The dispute started over the distribution of water for agriculture land and converted into the armed clash.

According to reports, Riaz and Rajab opened fire as a result Mohib alias Sahib Mahar, 15, was killed.

The rival group chased the attackers and in an indiscriminate firing killed Sher Mohammad, father of Rajab Mahar, near village Hayat Pitafi.

Police arrested Rajab and raids were being conducted to arrest other culprits.

AWARD: The Seventh National Education Award 2001 will be awarded to Prof Dr Baderuddin Memon, department of Microbiology, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, by the Pakistan Education Forum, Islamabad.

The award ceremony would be held on Jan 26, at the PAF College of Education for Women, Chaklala, Rawalpindi.
