DADU, Jan 8: A large number of primary teachers of taluka Dadu staged a demonstration here on Tuesday to protest against non- payment of the salaries of around 6,000 primary teachers of Dadu district for last two months.
The demonstrators were carrying banners, placards and raising slogans against the officials of Sindh education department and district accounts office, Dadu.
Talking to the demonstrators, the president of the Primary Teachers Association, Dadu su-division, Abdul Rehman Panhwar, regretted that the officials of education department had sent around 300 primary teachers of district Dadu to surplus pool.
He alleged that the clerks with the connivance of officials of the education department had made fake bills leading to the district accounts office’s refusal to pass the funds of the teachers salaries for last two months.
Later the teachers also observed token hunger strike in front of Dadu press club.
Earlier the primary teachers of taluka Dadu boycotted their classes.
WATER SHORTAGE: A large number of growers, social workers and political activists of taluka Johi blocked Dadu-Johi road to protest against “artificial” shortage of water in the waterways originating from Johi Barrage.
Led by the chairman of the Abadgar Association, Ghulam Qadir Rind, the protesters were chanting slogans against the officials of irrigation department.
ARRESTED: The police raided a place at Khairpur Nathan Shah-Mehar bypass and arrested an outlaw, Rajib Laghari.
Police seized one single barrel gun from his possession.
ASSAULTED: A boy, Abdul Sattar, 10, son of Muhammad Ali Solangi, was assaulted by four persons Phullo, Diloo, Jumo and Sawan in Makrani Mohalla Sehwan town when he was going to home from bus stand.
Sehwan police on the complaint of Abdul Sattar registered an FIR against the accused.
