No remission to corrupt

ISLAMABAD, Jan 5: National Accountability Bureau Prosecutor -General Raja Muhammad Bashir said on Saturday President Gen Pervez Musharraf had decided not to allow remission to convicts of corruption.

Briefing newsmen on the working of NAB, he said a high-level decision had recently been reached that the president would not grant remission in corruption cases any more.

According to the official, NAB has accepted Admiral (retd) Mansoorul Haq’s plea bargaining offer of paying $7.5 million and that he has been given extension till Jan 9 for depositing $5.5 million as the first instalment.

Haq has to pay two million dollars in three instalments within one year.—APP
